Job Title: Power BI Developer – Team Lead (Tableau to Power BI Migration)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer with strong leadership skills to manage a team of BI developers and analysts. The role involves guiding the team in designing, developing, and delivering Power BI solutions, while driving the end-to-end migration of BI assets from Tableau to Power BI. The ideal candidate will have expertise in data modeling, DAX, Power Query, performance optimization, and governance frameworks, along with proven experience in mentoring team members and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver business insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and mentor a team of BI developers and analysts, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Allocate tasks, review deliverables, and conduct code/design reviews.
- Provide technical guidance, upskilling, and continuous learning opportunities for the team.
- Power BI Development
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and paginated reports in Power BI.
- Build data models, relationships, measures, and KPIs using DAX and Power Query.
- Optimize report performance, query efficiency, and visual storytelling.
- Tableau to Power BI Migration
- Lead the migration strategy from Tableau to Power BI, ensuring accuracy, performance, and business continuity.
- Analyze existing Tableau workbooks, dashboards, and data sources; design equivalent Power BI solutions.
- Implement Power BI governance policies for security, access, and compliance during migration.
- Data Integration & Modeling
- Work with various data sources (SQL Server, Excel, Azure Data Lake, APIs, etc.).
- Develop efficient ETL processes and integrate with Power BI Service and Power BI Dataflows.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure clean, reliable, and scalable data pipelines.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business users to understand requirements, translate into BI solutions, and deliver actionable insights.
- Conduct workshops, requirement-gathering sessions, and user training on Power BI.
- Ensure reports and dashboards align with business goals and KPIs.
- Governance & Best Practices
- Implement Power BI security (Row-Level Security, access control, workspaces).
- Define standards for report design, naming conventions, version control, and documentation.
- Champion data-driven culture across the organization.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
- 5–10 years of BI experience with at least 3+ years in Power BI development.
- Proven experience in leading teams and mentoring BI professionals.
- Strong expertise in DAX, Power Query (M), Data Modeling, and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with Tableau-to-Power BI migration projects.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance in BI environments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
